Whether you have diabetes, cancer, poor eyesight, want to loose weight or are depressed; whatever it is, physically, emotionally or mentally, the first place to start is to change what you eat.The Joe Story:
For 60 days, I drank nothing but fresh fruit and vegetable juice on my Reboot (I documented the experience in my film Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead). During that time I relied on this simple, yet satisfying juice. It is a great juice for boosting your immune system and keeping your whole body clean, healthy, and happy.
That sounds happy and positive, unfortunately not all of us feel happy. In fact, I am hearing more and more of my clients and associates tell me that they feel sad, feel down or having the blues, tired, lonely, difficulty sleeping, more irritated than usual, not excited to do the things they usually do. This is most likely Depression. Depression needs to be taken seriously. It comes in many forms and can happen at any age. There seems to be an epidemic of depression in our world today. There are so many natural things that can be done to combat this condition. First, know your not alone in this, many people feel the same way you feel. Below is a short list of things to combat Depression and anxiety.
- Rest- best time is 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Get morning sun….Morning sun helps product serotonin which later in the day produces Melatonin which helps our sleep. (see circadian rhythm)
- Eat healthy that means as close to natural as possible. NO SUGAR NO REFINED PROCESSED FOODS
- No Alcohol
- Prayer, a relationship with God, faith, and hope. Knowing there is someone always looking out for you, loving you, protecting you; knowing your not alone helps combat the blues.
Did you know that overeating is one of the causes for getting the common cold?
The stomach becomes overloaded making it easier for bacteria and viruses to develop, causing infection. Some other causes for respiratory problems are: drinking cow’s milk and products derived from cow’s milk (cow’s milk forms mucus), sugar (depletes white blood cells which fight infection), allergies, inadequate rest (the system heals and mends best during rest. It is ideal to get 7-8 hours of sleep between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.). Improper breathing is often a contributor to respiratory problems. Many people tend to take short quick breaths. It is best to take slow deep breaths from the diaphragm. To help strengthen your respiratory muscles try blowing slowly out through pierced lips. Dehydration is another cause of respiratory illness.
Combating Holiday Overload
Did you know that overeating is one of the causes for getting the common cold. This month, I want to encourage you to eliminate dairy and sugar from your diet as a way to both combat the cold-flu and to lose those holiday non muscle pounds aka fat.
Did you know that adequate rest (7-8 hours of sleep between 10:00 and 6:00) works to heal the system and aids to rid the body of fat by lowering the levels of stress? Belly fat is also known as stress fat, heart attack fat, and bread/pasta sugar fat. Make this year your health year.
Get a MOVE on it….. Do things that get you moving; for example,take the stairs, park farther away instead of waiting for the closest parking spot, do stretches in your morning shower, and the like. When was the last time you did a sit-up? No…not just the sit-up to get out of bed! I Challenge you to try a few sit-ups….see how you do. Being strong and healthy is thee main way to stay young. Remember the Fountain of Youth begins within….And did you know, Pure water flushes fat.
