FAR-INFRARED HOT STONE MASSAGE?
This treatment uses a stone warmed by far-Infrared energy. The infrared rays pass on harmlessly a phenomenon known as resonant absorption. Far infrared hot stone therapy effectively delivers bioenergy deep within the tissue. This treatment is especially good for those with old injuries and scar tissue by improving fibroblast functions for connective tissue, minimizing even intractable scar tissue. Its healing properties are often used for chronic fatigue and fiber myalgia and individuals with thin skin.   It has been an extremely valuable modality to athletes post race or hair workout by cutting recovery time.

Juicing – The Joe Story

Robin Andrews Diet, Healthcare, Healthy Living, lifestyle
These are a few comments I keep hearing…..My answer is to try the Joe juicing way. Watch his movie, log onto his website, and get yourself healthy!  I am going to do it with you.
“I have tried everything to loose weight”
“Robin, I am sick of feeling tired and being sick. What do you suggest I do?”
Whether you have diabetes, cancer, poor eyesight, want to loose weight or are depressed; whatever it is, physically, emotionally or mentally, the first place to start is to change what you eat.The Joe Story:
For 60 days, I drank nothing but fresh fruit and vegetable juice on my Reboot (I documented the experience in my film Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead). During that time I relied on this simple, yet satisfying juice. It is a great juice for boosting your immune system and keeping your whole body clean, healthy, and happy.

Fasting and Cleansing

The following information was taken from the book “Nature’s Healing Way” by Mary Ann McNeilus, MD

The total fast is abstinence from all food. Drink generous amounts of water. A simple herb tea may be included in the total fast. The partial fast includes fresh fruit or a vegetable broth and small amounts of plain, whole grain bread to be taken the regular mealtime. Ending a fast is just as important as the fast itself. Break a fast with simply prepared fruit, vegetable, and whole grain (cereal) foods. Eat no more than two or three varieties of food at a meal. Do not overeat! Use the simple diet for the same number of days that were spent fasting.

Health Benefits of Fasting/cleansing

  • Promotes clear thinking and a sense of well-being
  • Cleanses the body: eliminate waste throughout the body
  • Re-education of taste buds: decreases cravings for unhealthy food
  • Helps maintaining an ideal weight
  • Helps combat ailments such as the common cold, allergy and digestive disorders, and arthritis
  • Improves mental health: lifts depression, reduces stress and anxiety

I have printouts of a wonderful fast/cleanse for those interested, please let me know prior to your appointment. Thank you.

That sounds happy and positive, unfortunately not all of us feel happy. In fact, I am hearing more and more of my clients and associates tell me that they feel sad, feel down or having the blues, tired, lonely, difficulty sleeping, more irritated than usual, not excited to do the things they usually do. This is most likely Depression. Depression needs to be taken seriously. It comes in many forms and can happen at any age. There seems to be an epidemic of depression in our world today. There are so many natural things that can be done to combat this condition. First, know your not alone in this, many people feel the same way you feel. Below is a short list of things to combat Depression and anxiety.

  • Rest- best time is 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
  • Get morning sun….Morning sun helps product serotonin which later in the day produces Melatonin which helps our sleep. (see circadian rhythm)
  • Eat healthy that means as close to natural as possible. NO SUGAR NO REFINED PROCESSED FOODS
  • No Alcohol
  • Prayer, a relationship with God, faith, and hope. Knowing there is someone always looking out for you, loving you, protecting you; knowing your not alone helps combat the blues.

Back Pain and Sitting Too Long

Robin Andrews Healthcare, Healthy Living

Okay Sports fans, office workers and couch potatoes…..GET OFF THAT COUCH OR CHAIR!!!

Approximately 80 out of 100 people in America suffer from back pain at some point in their lives.  This pain can be acute or chronic. The back and shoulders tend to be such a common trouble spot because of the stress that is put on them whether you are sitting on the couch watching the Super Bowl or sitting behind a desk. The spin is main support for the upper body thereby holding you upright. The spinal cord is our central nervous, sitting compresses it.  Nerves and proper blood flow are compromised by sitting for prolonged periods of time.  Get Up-Get Moving-Get a Massage!

Tis the Season for Respiratory Problems

Robin Andrews Healthcare, Healthy Living, Holiday, lifestyle

Did you know that overeating is one of the causes for getting the common cold?

The stomach becomes overloaded making it easier for bacteria and viruses to develop, causing infection. Some other causes for respiratory problems are: drinking cow’s milk and products derived from cow’s milk (cow’s milk forms mucus), sugar (depletes white blood cells which fight infection), allergies, inadequate rest (the system heals and mends best during rest. It is ideal to get 7-8 hours of sleep between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.).  Improper breathing is often a contributor to respiratory problems. Many people tend to take short quick breaths. It is best to take slow deep breaths from the diaphragm. To help strengthen your respiratory muscles try blowing slowly out through pierced lips.  Dehydration is another cause of respiratory illness.

Combating Holiday Overload

Did you know that overeating is one of the causes for getting the common cold.  This month, I want to encourage you to eliminate dairy and sugar from your diet as a way to both combat the cold-flu and to lose those holiday non muscle pounds aka fat.

Did you know that adequate rest (7-8 hours of sleep between 10:00 and 6:00) works to heal the system and aids to rid the body of fat by lowering the levels of stress?  Belly fat is also known as stress fat, heart attack fat, and bread/pasta sugar fat. Make this year your health year.

Get a MOVE on it….. Do things that get you moving; for example, take the stairs,  park farther away instead of waiting for the closest parking spot, do stretches in your morning shower, and the like. When was the last time you did a sit-up? No…not just the sit-up to get out of bed! I Challenge you to try a few sit-ups….see how you do. Being strong and healthy is thee main way to stay young. Remember the Fountain of Youth begins within….And did you know, Pure water flushes fat.

What is Ear Coning?

Izumi Blog Article - What is Ear Coning?

What is Ear coning?

This is an ancient Egyptian ritual that has been around for thousands of years. Ear coning is now practiced worldwide as an alternative health choice. A hollowed out cone shaped candle is inserted in the ear canal about ½ inch. The other end of the candle is lit creating heat which softens the ear wax; the vacuum draws it up into the candle.

Ear coning is said to help detoxify the sinuses, lymph congestion, earache, plugged ears, sore throat, allergies, and chronic headaches. It aids in the removal of ear wax, yeast, and fungus; as well as, various debris. Ear candling has been known to help with summer’s ear, some cases of vertigo, ringing in the ears, and TMJ.

Please note that this procedure makes no medical claims and can only be done on healthy ears; which mean, none infected ears, holes in the ear drum, implants within or concerning the ear, tubes in the ear, and any medical contraindication.

Dehydration and Hydration

Robin Andrews Healthcare, Skincare, Supplements

Many of you have been asking me about dehydration and hydration. The questions are:
Once a person is dehydrated how long does it take to rehydrate? What is the best way to achieve hydration? What are the best methods or products to hydrate?

It can take days even weeks to become truly hydrated after being dehydrated.

I have found “thedoctorwithin.com” website very informative. This website has video, live seminars, newsletters, and the like.

I found a good product to add to my water to help add electrolytes, and trace minerals to my diet. It is called, ‘Colloida Life trace minerals’. I purchased it sprouts but it can be found at most health food stores. Please note that it is suitable for vegetarians but not pregnant women. So, if you are a pregnant man…..feel free to use 2 droppers full!

Thorzt Shot is a product that hydrates the body quickly. The product has a scale or guide chart to base how hydrated you are, based on the color of your urine. Basically, the lighter the urine color the more hydrated. (Thorzt.com)

Just a side note: a hangover is dehydration. Emergen C taken with 16 ounces of water before bed has been said to be a good hangover prevention.

Remember to Hydrate Yourself!
Drink ½ your body weight in ounces each day under normal conditions.
